Passport for mac won't eject

I'm not so sure it is just an Apple issue, as I found a lot of Windows users were reporting problems with USB3 as well when I first started noticing the issue. I am going to start ejecting every time now. That is scary that you lost you HD because of it. I am not a programmer but it sounds like it would be a pretty simple fix. Wait.this is a common problem and Apple won't fix it? I don't understand.

Or maybe connecting it via a powered USB hub. That may not be possible, but if it is, it would be done with the WD Utilities. Maybe making the sleep time of the Passport longer will help. It is part of the Disk Utility app that comes with your Mac.ĭisk Utility also might be able to see and mount the HD after it is disconnected. Those disconnection errors can cause problems that Disk Utility can fix.

Sometimes if I switch ports it will recognize it without restarting but that is still annoying.įirst of all, you should run Disk First Aid on the Passport HD once in a while. The bigger problem is that I can't get the Mac to recognize the HD again until I restart it. After I wake it up I get the error that the disk was not eject properly. After I am done editing or if I take a break the computer goes into sleep mode. I use a 1TB Passport external HD to hold all of my photos.
